Primary Care
Why do my teeth feel sensitive, and what can I do to make them feel better?
Tooth sensitivity commonly arises when the gums recede, exposing the underlying dentin and providing easier access for water and food to reach the sensitive nerve. Managing this sensitivity involves using specialized toothpaste, gels, and certain dental procedures. For personalized guidance on addressing severe tooth sensitivity, please consult with us for more detailed information.
How can I keep my teeth and gums healthy?
Maintaining healthy teeth and gums begins at home. Brushing and flossing every day is the most effective way to care for your dental health consistently. Following a daily routine significantly reduces the chances of developing gingivitis or tooth decay over time. Regular visits to the oral hygienist every six months are also crucial for healthy gums. The hygienist removes plaque and tartar buildup that brushing and flossing alone cannot reach.
How can I make my smile better?
In modern dentistry, there are various methods to improve your smile, including:
- Tooth Whitening
- Bonding
- Porcelain Veneers
- Porcelain Crowns
- Braces
- Clear retainers
Our practice provides a smile analysis using digital photography to tailor the ideal treatment plan for your teeth. We can enhance your smile using one or a combination of these procedures.
How does tooth whitening work, and what affects how long it lasts?
Tooth whitening is an affordable and safe way to achieve a beautiful, healthy smile. Modern whitening products often include fluoride, minimizing the risk of tooth and gum sensitivity. It’s crucial to have your dentist monitor the whitening process, ensuring it follows a comprehensive exam and hygiene cleaning. With proper maintenance, the whitening effects can last for several years. However, be mindful that beverages like coffee, tea, cola, and wine can diminish the lasting results. As a rule of thumb, if it could stain a white shirt, it might stain your smile!
What are Crowns?
Crowns are a lasting solution that covers the entire tooth, altering its size, shape, and color in just two visits. They’re used for teeth with large cavities or those needing reinforcement to prevent breakage. Additionally, crowns are often placed after root canal treatment to strengthen the tooth.
